Why Stevia is good for us

Why Stevia is good for us

Stevia is a great natural alternative to sugar which unlike sugar, does not elevate blood sugar levels and has an alkalising quality which can help reduce acidity in our body.

A 2013 study found that steviol glycoside derivatives had a toxic impact in several cancers such as leukemia, breast, lung and stomach cancer. It contains many sterols and antioxidants compounds including kaempferol which has been found to reduce the risk of pancreatic cancer by 23%.

For people who enjoy sweet foods but know they should be avoiding sugar, Stevia is a fantastic substitute for sugar and other toxic sweeteners such as aspartame or sucralose which is most commonly used as it is very cheap to produce. Unlike aspartame (950 – 954 on food labels) and sucralose (955) which should be avoided at all costs, Stevia is made from the Stevia plant by drying the leaves and grinding them to a fine powder.

For its alkalising qualities and fact that it can help steer people away from consuming sugar and foods that contain sugar or aspartame, Stevia has made its way to the “FIT 50”.
