RECOMMENDATION

Lemon juice can be added to your drinking water, to your herbal teas and certain foods.

Unless you are consuming the lemon rind, there is no need to seek out organic lemons as they are a hardy fruit that requires little management and often no pesticides. If you are consuming the rind, soak the skin in warm water for 4-10 minutes.

Why Lemon is good for us

Lemons provide a sour tang to drinks and foods and more importantly, they help increase alkalinity in our bodies, reducing acidity making it harder for cancer cells to flourish. It is believed that cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment which can be brought about by poor diet decisions including the regular consumption of refined carbohydrates or processed meats.

In a number of test tube studies, lemons have been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells. Some observational studies have found that people who eat the most citrus fruit have a lower risk of cancer.

Lemons contain vitamin C and citric acid, which also help you absorb non-heme iron from plants. This may prevent anaemia which can occur when someone has cancer, especially if you are undergoing chemotherapy.
